The site was created by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who is considered the father of the World Wide Web (WWW)-and is dedicated to providing information on the World Wide Web project.

Berners-Lee wrote about HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP)-the way to help spread information, data between computer systems, as well as HyperText Markup Language (HTML): the language used to design the first site in the world.
